MagTek Centurion HID - Card Reader
The MagTek Centurion HID Card Reader is a standard HID mode reader which meets the USB requirements for less than one unit load. Featuring a 3-track bi-directional dual sided magnetic reader, the SureSwipe MSR was designed specifically to read any magnetic stripe card regardless of which way the magnetic stripe is facing when swiped. With a 99.9% accuracy rate, the SureSwipe MSR ensures the card data will be read on the first swipe every time. A green/red LED indicator on the reader provides the operator with status of the reader operations.
For the Human Interface Device (HID) Software Interface, a developed or modified application is required to communicate with this device. Data will not be seen in applications such as Windows Notepad. A USB Swipe & Insert Reader Demo Program is available from MagTek which can be used to communicate with the Centurion HID Card Reader.
The Centurion enables retailers to “future proof” their POS applications with support for both today’s traditional applications and tomorrow’s advanced security requirements. The Centurion is 100% interface compatible with all traditional MagTek® readers while also enabling advanced security features including card authentication, data encryption, and device/host authentication to be activated when higher security is demanded. |
